Why You Should Be Wearing Sunscreen All Year Round

It seems that no other topic in skincare gets as confusing as the application of sunscreen. Until just a few years ago, most of us were only using sunscreen in the summer months. That is, until advocates such as Jenette motivated us all to use SPF year-round.

We all know that the use of a reef safe sunscreen during the summer and sun vacations is a responsible choice. But did you known that the skin must also protect itself with an SPF in the winter months? Fact is that the #1 leading cause of premature aging is not wearing sunscreen daily!!

The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) on the packaging of your sunscreen says something about the protection against UVB damage, but not much about the UVA damage. You do not burn through UVA radiation and therefore you do not receive any warning signs from your skin. But UVA rays are possibly even more harmful than UVB rays and cause:  DNA damage, pigmentation, acceleration of the skin's aging process and a greater risk of developing skin cancer.

Many people assume that the skin does not need sunscreen in the winter because the sun is not out much. Yet this is not entirely true. In fact, around 80% of the rays go right through the overcast and drizzly weather, so it's important to protect yourself year round.

Because we like to educate and motivate everyone to use planet friendly yet effective skincare we are collaborating with Suntegrity throughout the month of October. Suntegrity Skincare was made in memory of the founder’s mom and all those who lost their lives to skin cancer. Suntegrity takes a holistic approach to sunscreen and uses only the best-known physical block / mineral ingredients (non-nano size zinc oxide) to provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection as well as super anti-oxidants and amino acids to enhance that protection and help with skin repair. Suntegrity is reef-safe and has a 1 EWG rating.

We will offer a free sample of Suntegrity’s Impeccable Skin Broad Spectrum SPF 30 with any order made in the month of October.

What Jenette likes about Suntegrity:

"This lightweight, yet extremely hydrating formula leaves my skin with a healthy glow without clogging my pores!  The Impeccable is my actual moisturizer every morning after I apply my Potion No. 1 or No. 2.  For reapplication throughout the day or if I’m out hiking or swimming, I like to use the Stick! My kids also like the stick while participating in their outdoor sporting activities."
