Trend: Probiotics In Skin Care
Posted by Barbara Barnes onMuch research has been done into the effects of probiotics on digestion and intestinal complaints. In recent years there are increasing indications that probiotics can also help fight against acne, eczema and rosacea.
Probiotics also work as an anti-aging agent. We’ve been adding natural probiotics to our skincare from the get go and we’d like to share with you why natural probiotics are so important.
What are probiotics?
Probiotics are bacteria or fungi that can have a positive effect on your health and well being. It has been demonstrated that probiotics ensure good intestinal flora, which is important for digestion, bowel movements and the immune system. But there are also indications that it can remedy and relieve skin problems.
Probiotics in natural skin care
Adding probiotics to skin care products has been a trend and has, in recent years, also been adopted by mainstream luxury skincare. More and more brands are adding probiotics to their skincare lines, to boost skin’s immune system to alleviate acne, eczema and rosacea.
Our founder Jenette explains what sets us apart: “We don’t try to eliminate all bacteria on the skin, we add a lot of good bacteria and create a biome that can optimally protect and nurture your skin. We’ve seen very positive results for clients with acne prone, red and sensitive skin as well as for our clients that are focused on anti-aging.”
Survival rate
Keeping probiotics alive in skincare is the challenge, as the efficiency of dead bacteria in products is much less than living bacteria. The living bacteria really address the cause of the problem. After much research Jenette found the ideal ingredient; Leucidal Liquid. This ingredient really sets our brand apart and is created through a fermentation process of radish root. This lactobicillus is extremely anti-bacterial and prevents the skin from future breakouts and instantly calms redness. This unique ingredient also naturally preserves the efficacy of the product, preventing microbial contamination.
By adding this probiotic base to our all natural skincare products we ensure the product stays healthy and alive. We are addressing skin issues at a deeper level, by fighting the root cause of aging, i.e. inflammation and free radical damage. Inflammation is truly at the core of killing our live cells, ultimately aging us!
Taking oral probiotics
Simply adding probiotics to your oral supplement routine isn’t enough, as the bacteria in your gut will quickly destroy the good bacteria, preventing them from doing their magic for your skin. What you need is a more focused approached, directly applied to your skin.
In conclusion, it’s important to do your research if you want to add probiotics to your skincare routine, making sure that you choose a product that will deliver living bacteria in a safe way and a product that ensures the good bacteria are alive when they enter your dermis.
