Getting Your Teen On A Skincare Routine September 24 2018, 0 Comments
Getting through your teen years without any skincare issues is almost impossible. Our skin expert and founder Jenette Serrins offers helpful advice on teen skin care and an ongoing regimen that can help prevent acne, blemishes and scarring. Cleansing carefully should be the basis of any skin care routine and especially so for teen skin, even as young as eight years old.
Chemical warfare or going the natural route
Many over the counter and prescription cleansers for teen skin assume your teen will suffer from breakouts or acne and rely on harsh chemicals and alcohols to dry out skin while trying to achieve simple cleanliness.
Choosing to go the natural route for your teen’s skin is more beneficial in the long run, and with the right regimen and consistency, will achieve the same and most likely better results.
Cleansing twice a day will give your teen the best skin possible, all while preventing acne! I suggest using Just Add Sugar Soap Bar, followed by Be Clean - Detoxifying Toner. Both of these products will help control oil if necessary and won’t dry out your skin when used properly, which can send you on a vicious circle of cleaning, oil build up, more cleaning, possible dryness and then more bumps.
After toning add a few drops of Be Clean - Detoxifying Elixir onto skin, if a child is broken out, pressing the oil into the skin is recommended. This Clean Elixir will give you a layer of hydration that can never clog your pores, as well as helping calm redness and bumps.
Finally, kill bacteria and prevent future breakouts with our miracle Just Add Sugar - Cacao Herbal Infusion Masque, when you have acneic skin you should use this masque about 2-3 times per week, even if just while you floss and brush your teeth;).
See what others have to say about the products in my Acne Kit:
"I've tried countless products over the years for my acne prone skin that is overly sensitive and now showing signs of aging. Someone once told me you can't cover up unhealthy skin- and I finally took note to change what was under my makeup. This line has changed my skin, pore size, and texture and has truly made my skin healthy and glowing. I've never gotten such amazing results from any other product. I moved from LA to Austin but still buy all my facial products from Jenette. Nothing quite like it! " - Anne on Feb 05, 2018
Other tips you could share with your teen:
Keep your hands clean, and don’t touch your face throughout the day, this helps keep unwanted bacteria off your face! Tell them this simple trick and they will see a difference in no time.
If you have teen girls that are wearing make-up, make sure they are not sharing their products and that they choose clean products. I suggest Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, the skin care make-up, as it doesn’t clog pores, calms redness, acts as sunscreen and causes no additional oiliness.
Should your teen use hair products it would be good to check how they use them and if any of the product ends up on their face. A little mindfulness here goes a long way.
With a daily thorough cleansing and balancing regimen, your teen should feel a difference and want to continue on this path. If the acne is not going away after a month, contact a recommended aesthetician for a Teen Facial. Jenette offers these at her spa, being in LA and the kids LOVE them!
Setting your teen up with a simple yet effective skincare regimen will set them up for a lifetime of good hygiene and skincare routines that will not only make them feel good about themselves in their teen years but also protect their skin in the long run.
